There are three different mounting options available for the standard SolMate and LightMate panels:

The Wieland plug, also known as a safety plug, offers no technical advantage over the safety plug. The main difference is that the pins of the Wieland plug cannot be touched, which is intended to provide additional safety but is not technically necessary. The built-in inverters already have safety precautions that ensure that voltage is only present when a power grid is detected. If no power grid is detected, the voltage at the plug switches off in less than 200 milliseconds. The Wieland plug is therefore not required in Austria, Switzerland and Germany. No, the system can be put into operation by laypersons independently and without outside help.

According to Önorm OVE 8101, the generation system would have to be permanently connected to the domestic power supply, which should be carried out by an electrician. A so-called safety plug would be installed. However, OVE 8101 is not legally binding, as a standard is only legally binding if it is made available free of charge, which is not the case here. We comply with the legally binding predecessor standard OVE 8001, which is accessible free of charge.

E-Control, which is responsible for such issues in Austria, has carried out a study together with the renowned Fraunhofer Institute which shows that the safety plug is harmless. The German Society for Solar Energy has also defined a safety standard according to which the protective contact connection is safe: https://www.pvplug.de/standard/. This standard is also met.
